Portuguese-American Foundation for Development (FLAD) is the result of the strong and long relations between Portugal and the United States of America. Formally founded in 1985, FLAD is a Portuguese institution, financially autonomous and private, designed to contribute to national development through bilateral cooperation with the United States of America.
FLAD focuses on four main areas - Science and Technology, Education, Art and Culture and Transatlantic Relations - aiming to expand the scientific, academic and artistic Portuguese potential, and reinforce the relations between the portuguese-american communities. FLAD promotes access to scholarships, programs and regular contents, great ideas that frame the promising relationship between Portugal and the United States of America.
